Purpose
To serve the community, spread awareness and appreciation for classical ballet, and provide dancers with additional performance opportunities.
Eligability
All Dance Place students enrolled in a ballet class are eligible for the Performance Team at their class level.
Cost
Teams A-B $35, teams C-E $85 fee per year which includes all rehearsals and training necessary
for scheduled performances. Some Teams may also have one costume fee, although we will strive
to use costumes already available through the students or the studio.
Lecture-Demos
Performance teams will also perform during January and February 2018 in Lecture-Demonstrations
for the after-school programs at area elementary schools, The Kershaw County Library, and other educational
programs as the opportunity may arise.
Nutcracker Fundraiser
Last year, The Dance Place Performance Teams performed scenes from THE NUTCRACKER at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County on Friday, December 16th, 2016.
The performance was a fundraiser for improvements currently needed to the Fine Arts Center stage on which our annual ballet production takes place every spring.
The performance was followed by a reception with light refreshments and the opportunity for audience members to take photographs with the dancers and get their autographs.
This year's Nutcracker performances will be on December 15-16, 2017.
